PEEK CF30, PEEK PVX, and nylon filled with oil are fantastic sliding performance materials. The ‘CF’ and ‘PVX’ both stand for high-performance polymers. All of these show very good wear resistance and lubricity under a wide range of temperatures. They are all good at resisting abrasion and chemical attacks, but the oil-filled nylon has an additional advantage in this area.
Modern sliding components need to transmit high contact stress and strain continuously over many million cycles. To withstand the friction and loading of their applications, they must be made from high-performance thermoplastics.
All three of these materials are capable of sliding under high mechanical load, but they all have different applications and overall characteristics. Let’s briefly look at each one to see where they can be used.
PEEK carbon fiber-filled material
Carbon-filled plastics, also known as CFPS or CF plastic, contain carbon fiber embedded into a plastic composite which gives the material increased stiffness, strength, and durability. Carbon-filled plastics are used in a range of applications including sporting goods, gliders, windsurfers, etc.
CF30 is an excellent sliding performance plastic with medium hardness, best for a mid-flex, mid-range driver. The CF30 plastic is much more durable than regular clear plastics, which makes it ideal for everyday use. The two-tone colors were made to be as bright as possible, while still being translucent. Bearing grade PEEK plastic
Bearing grade plastics are used for high-speed sliding applications such as drawer bottoms, panel doors, and window frames. They offer outstanding durability and wear resistance. The microhardness of the surface is typically 80 HRC. This level of microhardness provides excellent wear and abrasion resistance properties in sliding applications.
Performance plastics can be an excellent alternative to metal. They are lightweight, low cost, and exhibit good sliding performance, especially when loaded with a mineral or PTFE-based lubricant.
This combination of properties makes them a good choice for many applications that would normally use metals such as aluminum, stainless steel, or brass. In certain cases, polymers can possibly replace metals due to their properties such as high strength, low density, and corrosion resistance.
Keward PEEK adds PTFE, carbon fiber and graphite is a very good bearing grade plastic with exceptionally high impact strength, excellent heat resistance, and good oil resistance. It has been used in many demanding sliding applications where it has shown good abrasion and wear resistance.
Oil-filled nylon material
Oil-filled nylon is a synthetic fiber that develops supposedly at a high temperature. Probably the greatest reason this fiber has soared in popularity is that it can be in electrical energy applications, although nylon receives melted during electrical power presents. They are because of this increasingly being used since conductors and insulation in running cables. That could be the only lasting coating regarding wear and moisture as well as heavy-duty application.
Excellent sliding performance. The heavy-duty, oil-filled nylon bushings provide excellent resistance to wear and friction. Oil-filled nylon is quiet. It is perfect for internal doors that open into bedrooms or offices where noise is a concern. Easy to install. With a few simple tools, you can be up and running in no time. And for commercial buildings, there are many more benefits to using oil-filled nylon sliding door systems: Lower maintenance costs compared to other materials. Because they are solidly constructed from oil-filled nylon and heavy-duty aluminum, they do not require regular repainting or other expensive maintenance procedures.
