Different styles of Interior Design
One of the most essential things to study, if you want to become interior designer are the styles. Generally, most interior designers will use three basic styles when designing their own homes or working with clients. It’s up to you which one speaks best for your personal tastes!
Eclectic style
Eclectic style is a diverse mix of items that are not normally found in the same space. This style is often used to create an interesting atmosphere and showcase individual personalities.
The eclectic style is often used as a way to create an interesting and unique atmosphere. It’s not for everyone, but if you’re looking for the designer experience without all that expensive overhead then it might be perfect!
For example, I have my entire basement done in this style because of how much I love Disney characters! There are posters on the wall from different movies (including some rare ones), pictures of Mickey Mouse with his pals around him and even little figurines across two shelves at eye level where kids could reach them easily – like they were able to touch their favorite hero up close.
Traditional style:
Traditional style is characterized by an absence of clutter and decorative items, with heavy furnishings to create a comfortable atmosphere. Typically, designers will use wood accents in their designs like paneled walls and crown moldings. For example:
Designer A chose to design the living room using traditional elements such as hardwood flooring, thick rugs for comfort, and large furniture pieces including a fireplace mantel that can hold framed family pictures. Designer B used all designer colors from pink to reds with sparse décor, but designer C made sure there were plenty of plants around the home creating some green life into this space!
Minimalistic design style
This style is very popular recently, it is often characterized by an absence of clutter, decorative items or furniture with large open spaces for activities such as cooking, reading or working on the computer. This style is typically used to evoke simplicity and elegance in one’s surroundings.
When it comes to interior design, Minimalism is one of the styles that most designers are going for in modern days.
The key thing of any minimalist space involves open spaces with more natural light, (such as a living room or kitchen), a simple and modern color palette, low-maintenance furniture (usually white, black, beige or cream color) that is easy to clean. Another important accent used in minimalism are green living plants in various pots, or even a small Zen garden with a fountain in the living room.
Use of colors and lighting
You can’t be a good interior designer without having a special knowledge in theory of colors and light.
Color is an important part of interior design and has a huge impact on how we feel in our space. It can be used to evoke certain emotions or bring attention to things that may not have been noticed otherwise. For example, reds are typically warm colors that represent passion or love, while blues are calming hues like the sky at dawn during wintertime. Light and pastel blue colors are very suitable for bedrooms, while red, yellow and orange will create more vivid atmosphere in your living room.
When it comes to lighting there’s several different options you could use.
Natural light – sunlight will provide natural illumination for your place whether through windows or from lamps if there isn’t enough natural light coming inside the room; this is usually best when planning spaces where people spend more time such as kitchens, living rooms and bedrooms. (If you live in a house, a glass ceiling will be amazing alternative, especially for the plant-lovers.)
Task lighting – these are lights that create a focused beam of light on one or more specific areas, like reading lamps in the bedroom. General illumination can be used for spaces where it’s not necessary to have any kind of concentration and can be created by using overhead ceiling fixtures, wall sconces and floor lamp bases.
In addition to color and lighting there is also the use of mirrors which has been shown to make people feel larger as well as brighter due to how they reflect what little natural light may be present; you could place them behind your couch or bed so that when you’re sitting back against it during nighttime, you’ll still get enough brightness from outside sources!
Creating a nice, elegant and comfortable space for living is not an easy task, and it requires time, knowledge, dedication and many skills. However, be sure to make progress step by step and learn something from the vast world of Interior design each day.
